New England Patriots

When the new Boston football franchise needed a name, seventy-four fans suggested Patriots for obvious reason. Boston can be considered the birthplaces of our nation, so Patriots is fitting for the region. The new team's logo - "Pat Patriot" - is the cartoon image of a Minuteman crouched down preparing to snap a football. In 1971 the team changed the first part of their name from Boston to New England for a more regional name to attract fans from all over the northeast.
