Denver Broncos

There's really not much behind the Denver Broncos name historically speaking. A "name-the-team" contest was held, and for whatever reason the monicker "Broncos" came out victorious. There really isn't much documented regarding what kind of competition "Broncos" had in the contest, or what some of the other options might have been. I really can't think of a better nickname, mostly because I'm so used to calling them the Denver Broncos. Good enough reason I guess.

Since there isn't anything left to say about the name, did you know that the Broncos original team uniforms sported white and mustard colored jerseys, brown helmets to go along with almost assuradly horrifying brown pants? They did and there isn't any doubt at all that they were hideous. The fans thought so as well because the next season they switched over to the more familiar Orange, Blue and White we are blessed with today.
