Winnipeg Jets

The current Winnipeg Jets franchise is the second coming of the organization, the first having relocated to become the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996. As big a tragedy it is that a team would flee Canada to play hockey in Arizona, all was redeemed when the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg to restore the Jets franchise in 2011. The Jets moniker was originally inspired by a team with the same name that played in the Western Hockey League prior to ultimately changing their name to the Winnipeg Clubs, and then later the Winnipeg Monarchs.
