Maybe it's just me, but Jazz is probably one of the last things I associate with Utah. So it makes sense that Utah is one of those teams that moved from a place where their nickname made perfect sense to a new location and then just decided it would be too much hassle to come up with a different moniker. I mean naming a team is hard work, right?

And yes that does appear to be the case here. The Utah Jazz were created as the New Orleans Jazz in 1974. However, a few bad seasons had ownership looking for a change of scenery, and so they moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1979. Utah and Jazz. OK then.
