San Francisco Giants

San Francisco's team started out as the New York Gothams in their early days. After a rousing victory in 1885, the team's manager referred to his players as "My Giants!" The team quickly changed from Gothams to the Giants, and kept the name when they moved out west to San Francisco in 1957.

Great storied franchise, one of the best uniforms in baseball, absolutely stunning ballpark, pretty bland team name history. I think the fans are OK with that. I'd take the championships and a view of the San Francisco bay while seated on the third base line for an afternoon game anytime.
