Oakland Athletics

Oakland has one of the oldest nicknames in professional sports, and they have played on the east coast, midwest, and their current west coast location during their famed history. They began as the Philadelphia Athletics in their earliest incarnation and were known as such until 1955 when the organization moved to Kansas City becoming the Kansas City Althletics.

Not to stay in one place too long, they relocated to California in 1968 to become the Oakland Athletics, but have since been known more often as the A's which is less of a mouthful, and is said for the letter A that so often is seen on team uniforms.
